When I first heard about the Royal Marine Veterans Speed March, I felt a jolt of inspiration. It came through the words of Barry (Baz) Gray, Royal Marine RSM (Retired), now Yeoman of the Tower of London:
“In a Speed March, the aim is for a group of service members to bridge the distance on foot as quickly as possible and then carry out a (combat) action at destination.”
What Is the Royal Marine Speed March?
This isn’t your everyday marathon. It’s 26.2 miles around London, completed at pace, wearing 40lbs of weighted kit — all while preparing for a tactical outcome. What makes this even more incredible? The team behind it.
A group of 14 retired Royal Marines, all aged between 45 and 61, are taking on the challenge. Many carry past injuries, full-time jobs, and busy lives — yet they’re pushing their limits to raise funds for the RMA Royal Marines Charity and The Baton Charity.
How Rebecca Day 360 Helped Prepare Their Bodies
I was invited to support these incredible men not just with words, but with care — the kind that goes deeper than the skin. They each shared their injury profiles with me: shoulders, hips, knees, chronic aches, wear-and-tear. From that, I created fully customised body maps and developed bespoke recovery and performance products suited to each of them.
Natural Muscle Recovery for Veterans: What They Used
For this level of training intensity — especially over 40 — the body needs more than fitness. It needs repair, regulation, resilience. That’s where the **ACTIVATOR** and **SHERPA RUB** came in.
- ACTIVATOR: Applied before training to awaken the muscles, stimulate circulation, and improve flexibility.
- SHERPA RUB: Used daily to reduce inflammation, speed up recovery, and relieve pain in stressed areas.
Each formula is developed in-house, from ethically sourced ingredients, and refined through scientific research. These products don’t just help — they adapt to each body’s needs.
The Power of Purpose and Preparation
What struck me most wasn’t just the physical challenge. It was the transformation I saw in each of them. Having a mission — something to train for, something bigger than yourself — has the power to pull you out of inertia. Out of boredom. Out of depression. Into strength, into clarity, into momentum.
That’s what this march represents: brotherhood, resilience, legacy. And it’s an honour to support them on that journey.
Raising Funds and Awareness
The Royal Marine Veterans are not only pushing their bodies to the edge — they’re doing it for purpose. The funds raised will support mental health and rehabilitation work for serving and retired Marines through:
Both organisations do vital work to ensure no Marine is left behind. If you’d like to support the team, follow their journey and consider donating through their official page.
Rebecca Day 360: Behind Every Body That Moves
My mission has always been simple: to empower bodies in motion — whether that’s an elite athlete, a veteran, a working dog, or someone simply trying to live pain-free. The Speed March was a reminder that when we give the body the right tools, it can still do incredible things.
With care that’s personal. Formulas that are pure. And purpose that runs deep.
