The purpose of the expedition

We’ll be visiting the community at a time when they have finished their apple harvest (Aug) or when the apples come out of storage (Feb). The people here are climate change refugees in the sense that the men and young people have had to leave the region to seek work due to climate conditions.

We would be working with the local indigenous women who remain offering vocational training to help them use their surplus harvest profitably.

A rewarding experience

‘Our small group expeditions are always done with a clear purpose in mind, but they are also great fun and incredibly rewarding. You leave your world far behind and are completely immersed in the local culture. Joining a small but cheerful team of like-minded souls is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see another culture first-hand. Our expeditions change the lives of those who come with us in a fundamental way, I am always told’

Ready for an adventure?

If you have a good basic fitness level and a desire for adventure with purpose, this could be your perfect trip. Indeed, these expeditions will take you out of your comfort zone, but they are not an extreme challenge: We sleep in hotels in Kathmandu, and we live with the community in their tea houses when on expedition.

If you can bring additional skills such as cooks, chefs, cider, brandy, jam makers or knowledge of dried food making, then so much the better for this trip.

Please note: These expeditions will be filmed for part of a documentary series.
